Coverage
The whole D-road, junction to junction.
The A500 curves through Stoke-on-Trent between the two M6 junctions — hence the nickname. Heavy traffic, tight slips and constant lane changes make it a common place for tyre damage. We cover all of it.
M6 J15 to Sideway
From Hanchurch and the Hanford interchange past Trentham and Sideway, where the A50 joins. Fast-moving and busy at all hours, with narrow verges.
Stoke, Shelton and Etruria
The city-centre section past the station, Stoke, Shelton and the Etruria valley junctions. Frequent kerbing and pothole damage through here.
Basford to M6 J16
Out past Wolstanton, Porthill and Basford towards Talke and the junction 16 interchange. Heavy HGV movement and plenty of road debris.
Safety
A live trunk road with nowhere to stop.
The A500 has very little in the way of hard shoulder, and traffic rarely drops below the limit even at night. Changing a wheel yourself on this road is a genuinely bad idea, and the reason we insist on REACT-standard traffic management for every job on it.
If you can still move the vehicle, the safest thing is usually to come off at the next slip and stop on a side road — tell us where you end up and we will come to you there instead.

Can you get to me on the A500 in rush hour?
Yes, though the traffic affects us the same as everyone else. You will get a realistic arrival time based on where the van is and what the road is doing, not an optimistic one.
Are you allowed to work on a live road?
Yes. Every DMS fitter holds a REACT licence, the accreditation required for work on the strategic road network. It covers traffic management, signage and high-visibility standards, and it is why we can attend at any hour where many mobile fitters cannot.
How much is a roadside call-out?
Call-out is £40+VAT in working hours and £80+VAT out of hours, on top of the tyre and fitting. Mileage may be added over longer distances. The full total is confirmed on the phone before we set off. These are same-day emergency rates — a job booked in advance for working hours carries no call-out charge.
Should I drive off the A500 on a flat tyre?
If the tyre is fully deflated, driving damages the wheel and can be dangerous. If it is a slow puncture and you can move at low speed with hazards on, getting off at the next slip is usually safer than sitting on the D-road. Call us and we will advise for your situation.
