Privacy policy

How DMS Tyres collects, uses and stores personal information, and what you can ask us to do with it. Written in plain English rather than legal boilerplate.

Last updated 20 August 2026

1. Who we are

DMS Tyres is a tyre fitting business operating from Uttoxeter Road, Blythe Bridge, Stoke-on-Trent ST11 9NT, with mobile fitting across Staffordshire, Cheshire and Derbyshire. For the purposes of UK data protection law we are the data controller for the information described in this policy.

This policy covers the website at dmstyres.co.uk. It does not cover other websites we link to.

2. What we collect

We only collect what we need to price a job, get to you and keep a record of the work.

Booking enquiriesYour name, phone number, the service you want, tyre size if you give it, and anything you type into the notes box — usually a postcode and a preferred time.
Phone, WhatsApp and emailIf you contact us directly we hold whatever you tell us, plus your number or email address so we can reply.
Job and vehicle recordsRegistration, vehicle details, the tyres fitted, the address we attended and the invoice.
Server logsOur hosting provider records IP addresses, timestamps, requested pages and browser type as part of running the server. We do not use these logs to build a profile of you.
What we do not collectThis website runs no analytics, no advertising pixels and no session-recording or heatmap tools. We do not buy or sell contact data, and we do not send marketing unless you have asked us to.

3. Why we use it, and our legal basis

Answering enquiriesTo quote, book and attend the job. Legal basis: performance of a contract, or steps taken at your request before entering one.
Invoicing and accountsTo bill the work and meet HMRC record-keeping duties. Legal basis: legal obligation.
Safety and warrantyTo trace which tyres went on which vehicle if there is a fault, recall or dispute. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
Running the websiteTo keep the site online, secure and working. Legal basis: legitimate interests.

4. Cookies

DMS Tyres sets no cookies of its own on this website. There is no tracking cookie, no advertising cookie and no analytics cookie, which is why you are not asked to accept a cookie banner.

If we add analytics in future, we will ask for your consent before any such cookie is set. Declining leaves the site working exactly as it does now, with no analytics cookie and no tracking.

The one exception is the online tyre ordering tool on the homepage. That is supplied by a third party and loads inside a frame; when you interact with it, it may set its own cookies necessary for the basket and checkout to work. Those cookies are set by the supplier, not by us — see the next section.

5. Third-party services on this site

A small number of external services are loaded by this website. Where one is, it receives your IP address as a technical necessity of serving that content.

Online tyre orderingThe search-and-buy tool on the homepage is provided by our tyre supply platform and runs on their servers. Anything you enter into it — registration, tyre size, contact and payment details — is processed by them under their own privacy policy.
TypefacesThe fonts used on this site are served from our own server rather than from Google Fonts, so no request for them leaves for a third party and no IP address is shared to display the page's text.
OpenStreetMapThe coverage map draws its map tiles from OpenStreetMap, which receives your IP address when the map loads.
Map softwareThe map itself is drawn by Leaflet, an open-source library loaded from the unpkg content delivery network, which receives your IP address for that request. No cookie is set.
Email deliveryBooking enquiries submitted through the form are emailed to us using an email delivery provider acting as our processor. They handle the message in transit and do not use it for their own purposes.

6. Who we share information with

We share personal information only where it is needed to do the job or where the law requires it: with our tyre suppliers when ordering stock for your vehicle, with our accountant and payment providers, with the RAC where work is carried out under their scheme, and with our hosting and email providers as described above.

We will also disclose information if we are legally obliged to, for example to HMRC, the police or a court. We never sell your data.

7. How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become jobsDeleted within 12 months.
Invoices and job recordsSix full financial years plus the current one, as required for tax records.
Server logsHeld by our hosting provider on a short rolling basis, typically weeks rather than months.

8. Security

The whole site is served over HTTPS, so anything you submit is encrypted in transit. Enquiries arrive as email to a business account rather than being stored in a public database on this website. Access to job records is limited to the people who need it to do the work.

9. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:

Tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy.
Correct anything that is wrong or out of date.
Delete it, where we are not required to keep it for tax or warranty reasons.
Restrict or object to how we use it, including any marketing.
Provide it in a portable format, or withdraw consent where you gave it.

Ask by phone or email using the details below. There is no charge, and we will respond within one month. We may need to confirm who you are first.

10. Complaints

Please raise it with us first — most things are sorted with a phone call. If you are still unhappy you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
